Richard C. Cardillo, MD
The first New Jersey native to join the group, Richard Cardillo, MD, who is medical director of Lutheran Medical Group, joined in February 1997. Dr. Cardillo, whose special interests include pulmonary, critical care, interventional pulmonology and sleep disorders, came to Fort Wayne from Eau Claire, Wis., where he practiced with a Mayo Health System-operated group.
Dr. Cardillo received a bachelor's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, N.J. He earned a medical degree Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, an affiliate of Rutgers Medical School, in Camden, N.J., and he completed an internship and internal medicine residency at Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center. Dr. Cardillo completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Cardillo, who is board certified in both internal and sleep medicine, is a clinical professor of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he teaches clinical medicine and pathology. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians. In 1986, he received the American College of Physicians Laureate Award.
