Primary Care
Unlike internal medicine physicians, or internists, who focus solely on adults, primary care physicians are trained to care for men, women and children of all ages. Primary care physicians provide a full range of healthcare services, including routine obstetrics, gynecological and pediatric care. They also offer continuous care for a variety of complex and sometimes chronic medical conditions that may involve multiple systems.
In addition to providing preventive and ongoing care, primary care physicians also serve as the first point-of-contact for patients with an undiagnosed health concern, act of behalf of patients when collaborating with and referring to specialists, coordinate care with hospitals and other facilities and serve as the repository for patient records.
Lutheran Medical Groups' first primary care physician joined the group in May 2010.
