Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, is a branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of neurologic, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, pulmonary and other disorders that may result in a temporary or permanent impairment or disability. Physiatry focuses on restoring function to the bones, muscles, tissues and nervous system during treatment for conditions such as brain, spinal cord or sports injuries, stroke, amputation or musculoskeletal issues. A wide range of patients can be treated, from those with limited physical mobility to those with complicated cognitive deficiencies.
