Pulmonology

The moment a baby is born, everyone waits for one thing—that first big breath. At Lutheran Medical Group, we want to make every breath that follows just as good. We all want to breathe easily. Breathing is one of the body's most vital functions, so when it becomes a problem, it's critical that the problem is diagnosed and treated immediately.

The LMG team of board-certified pulmonologists specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions and diseases of the cardiopulmonary system, specifically, the lungs.

These physicians focus on the breathing process and getting oxygen into and out of the body. Some conditions treated by LMG pulmonologists include asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer, pneumonia and sleep apnea, to name a few.

LMG pulmonary services include:
  • Bronchoscopies
  • Cardiopulmonary treadmill testing with oximetry
  • Chest tube thoracoscopies
  • Critical care procedures
  • Overnight oximetries
  • Percutaneous tracheostomies
  • Pulmonary-function testing
  • Sleep apnea evaluations
  • Sleep studies
  • Thoracentisis

LMG also offers a sleep disorders center. Several of LMG's pulmonologists are also board-certified sleep specialists and are diplomats of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. These physicians diagnose all types of sleep disorders, from sleep apnea and narcolepsy to insomnia and shift-work sleep problems, and they also work with vendors to ensure sleep-aid products fit patients properly and are comfortable and compliant. Sleep studies are scheduled within days of receipt of a physician's referral.
